The pressure to be interesting!
There’s this quiet pressure to always be interesting or doing something interesting. To have a take. Something to say or something worth sharing. To make even your normal life feel a little more elevated.
I admit, my life has been full this year with more travel than I am used to. More things! But most of my life isn’t interesting. Its repetitive. It’s logistical. Honestly every time I return to it from a more “interesting” trip or event, I think how much I prefer the “normal”. I prefer my normal life to the vacation. I like doing school pickup. designing at my desk. Tucking in my kids. Getting in to bed early (the dream)! Doing the same thing again tomorrow. Unfortunately, ist not what’s interesting for the internet. For engagement.
Maybe we need to stop trying to make everything more interesting and just notice what already is.
